Completed · Education · School Boarding Accommodation · Tropical · 2017

Boarding accommodation for 540 pupils at a rural school on the edge of the Amazon in northern Brazil. Earth blocks made on site form perforated lattice walls, and a vast canopy roof gives deep shade and cross-ventilation that keep the buildings cool in extreme heat. The design grew from on-site workshops with students and locals, and won the 2018 RIBA International Prize.
