Locally made earth blocks forming breathable lattice walls.
Walls and perforated screens are built from compressed earth blocks made on site for their thermal mass, low cost and local availability. The lattice openings let air pass while shading interiors. Making blocks on site avoids transport and uses the ground as the material source.
Compressed earth blocks manufactured on site from excavated material eliminate transport entirely and turn the site itself into the material supply chain — a genuine embodied-carbon and cost advantage in remote or resource-constrained contexts. The lattice arrangement is a climate-responsive move: perforated screens shade interiors while allowing air movement, and the thermal mass of dense earth moderates temperature swings, making the combination well suited to hot, arid climates where diurnal range is large. The honest gap is that no independent evidence accompanies the record — no compressive strength test data, no moisture resistance testing, no durability track record in high-rainfall or seismic conditions, and no maintenance history. Earth-block construction carries real risks around water penetration, shrinkage cracking and erosion that require careful specification of stabilisation (cement or lime additive proportions), protective overhangs and ground-level drainage; a team adopting this approach should draw on established compressed earth block standards rather than relying on the project claim alone.
