Windermere Jetty Museum

Windermere, Cumbria, United Kingdom, Europe

Completed · Cultural · Museum (Boat Collection) · Temperate · 2019

A lakeside museum for a historic boat collection in the Lake District, composed as a granular cluster of small copper-clad buildings rather than one large shed. Oxidised black copper, polished concrete and Douglas fir are used, with eucalyptus where timber meets water. Underfloor heating is served by water-source heat pumps drawing on the lake. It was shortlisted for the 2021 RIBA Stirling Prize.
