Charlestown of Aberlour, Speyside, United Kingdom, Europe

Completed · Industrial · Distillery And Visitor Centre · Temperate · 2018

A whisky distillery cut into the hills of Speyside, its production cells expressed as five linked domes under an undulating timber gridshell roof of some 380,000 mostly unique components. The roof carries a pre-grown wildflower living blanket and the building is partly buried to sit within a protected landscape. It was shortlisted for the 2019 RIBA Stirling Prize.
