NEOM — The Line

Tabuk Region, Saudi Arabia, Middle East

Under Construction · Mixed Use · Linear Zero-Car City · Arid

A 170 km linear city built as two parallel mirrored facades 200 m apart and 500 m tall, designed to house up to 9 million people in a car-free environment powered entirely by renewable energy. The project proposes AI-managed resource distribution and a high-speed rail spine running the full length at sub-20-minute end-to-end transit.

Innovation highlights

  • continuous 170 km linear urban form — no precedent at this scale
  • fully car-free internal environment across a mega-city population
  • 100% renewable energy target with no fossil fuel infrastructure
  • AI-managed utility and mobility orchestration across the spine
  • mirrored exterior facade designed to minimise solar gain at extreme scale
