Hackney New Primary School and 333 Kingsland Road

London, United Kingdom, Europe

Completed · Mixed Use · Urban School Stacked With Housing · Temperate · 2021

A hybrid building combining a three-storey 350-pupil primary school with an eleven-storey block of 68 below-market flats and ground-floor retail on a tight Hackney site. Stacking housing above the school frees ground space for play. A red brick and red precast-concrete palette unifies the two typologies. It was shortlisted for the 2022 RIBA Stirling Prize.
