A 15,000 tpa facility operating at California Portland's Redding plant and December 2025 third-party validation across all six ASTM C1157 categories provide a more substantial evidence base than most low-carbon cement alternatives can claim, and the Graymont partnership indicates a manufacturing route with commercial intent. The scale constraint is stark: 15,000 tonnes per annum is commercially meaningful but sits at roughly 0.0004% of global cement demand, and the capital investment and CO₂ feedstock infrastructure required to reach material market share is undemonstrated. That CO₂ feedstock dependency is the structural risk that persists even at scale: the product's economics and carbon performance become directly coupled to the availability and cost of captured carbon, which is itself dependent on industrial policy and carbon pricing in ways outside any specifier's control. A specifier choosing ReAct today makes a proprietary technology bet on a single supplier and a supply chain with limited redundancy. The most honest position is that Fortera has cleared a harder set of technical hurdles than most competitors in this category, but the gap between one operating plant and a material supply option on a live project is a logistics question, not a chemistry one.
ASTM C1157 compliance (Dec 2025, Construction Testing Services) is verifiable and significant. Facility deployment at Redding is real infrastructure. However, no third-party-verified EPD or LCA with CI values was found in accessible sources. Company website claims '100% CO2 reduction with green energy' and '60–70% headline' reductions, but these lack independent LCA backing. Graymont partnership and Microsoft investment are credibility signals but not performance proof. Cost parity, long-term durability, supply chain maturity of recycled calcium feedstock, and practical construction performance remain unverified in peer-reviewed or published LCA.
