Deck-VQ and Hydrodeck-VQ are composite roof panels that encapsulate fumed-silica VIP cores within PIR (rigid) or EPDM (flexible) envelopes, delivering 4–5× the thermal resistance of standard PIR at comparable thickness. They directly address the refurbishment constraint where structural or regulatory barriers prevent raising parapets or altering threshold heights. Installation risk is reduced by the protective shell, which eliminates VIP puncture vulnerability during handling and laying.

Deck-VQ and Hydrodeck-VQ encapsulate vacuum-insulated panel cores within rigid PIR or flexible EPDM shells, delivering four to five times the thermal resistance of standard PIR at equivalent thickness — a performance gap that is specifically designed to solve the refurbishment problem where raising parapets or altering threshold heights is structurally or regulatorily blocked. Shell encapsulation addresses the fragility that makes bare VIP panels impractical on live sites, and Highgate case studies combined with CCPI assessment create a UK specification pathway that bare-core VIPs lack. The honest trade-offs are threefold: the material cost premium over conventional PIR is real and narrows the project types where the economics close; thermal bridging data at edge details and fixings is limited, meaning whole-assembly U-value calculations carry more uncertainty than the panel's centre-of-pane performance suggests; and once installed, the composite format cannot be repaired — any failure of the vacuum seal, whether from installation damage or long-term perforation, requires full panel replacement. End-of-life disposal of the composite assembly is not yet standardised. For retrofit projects specifically constrained by depth and structural sensitivity this is a technically well-matched solution; for new-build or unrestricted-depth refurbishments, conventional insulation at greater thickness will usually close the U-value gap at lower cost and risk.
