Designing mechanical and electrical services for strike-and-reuse across multiple cities is not a novel idea in the event industry — touring concert and exhibition infrastructure routinely follows this model — but applying it with engineering rigour to HVAC plant and primary distribution rather than just lighting rigs is less common and the record carries no provided evidence here. The economic case is most compelling when the same venue format and identical floor area are used across multiple events: if geometry or load profiles change significantly between venues, the reuse value of prefabricated distribution erodes and what was designed to save money demands rework. The design and specification challenge is in the connections: plant must be designed around quick-connect couplings, flexible hoses and standard interfaces that can be demounted and reconnected without leak testing delays; electrical connections need the same discipline. Equipment selection favours modularity and robustness over efficiency optimisation — a unit that handles transport vibration and repeated installation is more valuable than one rated a few points higher on seasonal COP in a static building. The carbon argument for reuse is genuine if the alternative is virgin fabrication per event, but it needs whole-life analysis to verify: transport logistics, loading cycles and the maintenance interval compression from repeated use all affect the balance.
