OPTIM-R E is a vacuum insulation panel (VIP) combining a microporous fumed-silica core evacuated to <1 Pa with a gas-tight foil envelope and polyurea spray coating for damage resilience during handling and installation. It targets the construction industry's pain point of VIP brittleness and on-site breakage. The polyurea exterior mitigates edge and impact damage, a real practical problem in conventional VIPs.

OPTIM-R E addresses the practical failure mode of conventional vacuum insulation panels — on-site fragility and edge impact damage — by wrapping the fumed-silica evacuated core in a polyurea spray coating, while claiming R-34.2 per inch at the centre of panel, the highest thermal resistance per thickness in the rigid insulation category. The core technology is mature; fumed-silica VIPs have decades of stability data, and the fragility problem being solved is a real barrier to mainstream construction adoption. The honest performance qualification is that centre-of-panel R-value is not whole-assembly R-value: seams, edges and fastening create thermal bridges that substantially reduce real-world performance, and Kingspan's marketing does not make this gap transparent. Long-term edge-seal and gas-barrier integrity under a 50-year building service life remains quantified only by inference from conventional VIP heritage, not from this product's deployed stock.
