Insulation so high the units need almost no heating.

The modules are insulated to the point that they need little or no heating even in winter, shrinking heating plant and running cost. High factory-controlled envelope quality makes the low-energy outcome repeatable unit to unit.

The proposition is that factory-controlled envelope construction can achieve insulation levels high enough to make active space heating marginal or unnecessary in winter, shrinking both the heating plant and the long-run energy cost. This is directionally consistent with Passivhaus and comparable low-energy standards, which have a documented evidence base outside this record, but the record itself provides no verified performance data, no unit specifications and no completed project evidence, so the near-zero-heating claim is asserted. Factory delivery does support the repeatability argument — eliminating the thermal bridging and air-permeability variability that tends to erode site-built envelope performance is the strongest structural reason to believe the claim could hold in practice. The trade-off a specifier needs to quantify is the relationship between insulation thickness, internal floor area and ceiling void height within a module: each additional layer of insulation reduces usable space, and in a volumetric module where dimensions are fixed that is a non-trivial design variable. Overheating risk in a super-insulated unit also needs to be checked against the specific module orientation and any glazing strategy, since low heating demand and high summertime solar gain can coexist uncomfortably.
