Emoco Eye is a low-power radar sensor that measures pulse patterns without contact, using machine learning to classify occupant states and feed real-time data into Mitsubishi's Serendie platform for automated HVAC, lighting, and other environmental adjustments. It addresses the design problem of static office environments that do not respond to actual occupant physiology or wellbeing signals. The system requires no wearables or explicit user interaction.

Emoco Eye uses low-power Doppler radar to detect pulse patterns through clothing and feed physiological state data into Mitsubishi's Serendie platform for automated adjustment of HVAC, lighting, and other environmental conditions — moving office environment control from occupancy-binary to wellbeing-responsive without requiring wearables or user interaction. The concept addresses a real design ambition: buildings that respond to how people actually feel rather than just whether they are present. The evidence base, however, is a two-subject CEATEC demonstration, which is insufficient to establish pulse detection reliability, false-positive rates, or multi-occupant performance in any meaningful sense. The ML classification of occupant states such as stress and fatigue is not clinically validated, raising the risk of environmental responses driven by misinterpretation. Beyond technical readiness, this product sits in genuinely complex regulatory territory: continuous physiological monitoring of employees triggers GDPR, local privacy law, and workplace monitoring restrictions that have not been addressed in the available documentation, and the cultural acceptance of biometric office surveillance — even for stated wellbeing purposes — is untested. Mitsubishi ecosystem lock-in through the Serendie platform is an additional integration constraint. Conceptually ahead of its time; the privacy and validation questions need to be resolved before any serious specification consideration.

Demonstration was limited to CEATEC 2025 with two journalists; no peer-reviewed validation, no independent accuracy study, no published ground-truth methodology for 'concentration' scoring (33% vs 97% range reported without disclosure of measurement standard or algorithm). No commercial availability announced. Pulse detection via millimeter-wave Doppler is physically plausible; emotion/concentration inference from heart-rate variability alone is scientifically unvalidated at this scale and context. No third-party testing, no field deployment data, no regulatory pathway disclosed for occupant monitoring in commercial offices.
