The caution is that the record rests on claimed evidence alone, and the performance of any specific bioswale and lake system depends on catchment sizing, soil permeability, planting establishment and ongoing maintenance discipline — a network that silts or whose planting fails reverts to conventional drainage without the ecological or reuse benefit. Long-term operational costs and the legal framework for recirculated water reuse (which varies by authority and use type) are the details a specifier needs to pin down before the drainage strategy is locked.
