RipplesIPS is a hybrid real-time location system combining Bluetooth Low Energy mesh networking (Wirepas backbone) with LoRaWAN backhaul to enable construction-site visibility without dense infrastructure. It addresses the AEC problem of worker safety, asset accountability, and site logistics through battery-powered anchor and tag networks. Standard mesh mode delivers 2–2.5 m accuracy; sub-metre performance requires optional Angle-of-Arrival hardware. Tags claim 5–10 year battery life, reducing maintenance overhead.

RipplesIPS combines Bluetooth Low Energy mesh networking via a Wirepas backbone with LoRaWAN backhaul to deliver real-time worker and asset location on construction sites, using battery-powered anchors and tags to avoid the cabling overhead that makes conventional RTLS impractical on temporary sites. Standard mesh mode achieves 2–2.5 m accuracy; sub-metre requires optional Angle-of-Arrival hardware. The infrastructure-light deployment model and claimed 5–10 year tag battery life are the strongest practical differentiators. The evidence base is thin: there are no documented construction-site deployments, and the single named reference — Schlumberger — is production inventory tracking, not worker safety in a live construction environment, meaning the safety-critical use cases the product targets remain unvalidated under real field conditions. BLE mesh performance in the RF environment of a typical steel-and-scaffolding construction site, where interference from heavy plant and adjacent WiFi is endemic, is not characterised. Integration with UK CDM safety obligations, evacuation protocols, and OSHA-equivalent frameworks is not addressed, and the regulatory compliance path for safety-critical application is unresolved. Appropriate as a pilot on a large logistics-heavy site where asset tracking has intrinsic value independent of safety claims; should not be specified as a primary safety system without field validation data.

Product exists and is actively marketed (Singapore-based Ripples IoT, formerly Software Associates India, est. 1991). Website and technical specs are live. However: (1) accuracy claims conflate optional AoA mode (sub-metre) with standard mesh mode (2–2.5 m); product page itself retreats to 'approximately 5 feet' for typical use. (2) No named construction-site case studies or public deployments found via direct search or third-party review. (3) Only verifiable enterprise customer cited is Schlumberger, explicitly for inventory tracking, not live worker safety—a critical use case distinction in construction. (4) Battery life claim (5–10 years) is stated but unverified by independent test. (5) Wirepas mesh and LoRaWAN backhaul are proven technologies, but integration maturity and AEC-specific reliability data are absent.
